Welcome to Race Against Resistance 2026
We are excited to launch our annual Race Against Resistance, a virtual fundraiser that brings the SHEA community together in support of the SHEA Foundation and its programs.
Our Goal
We aim to raise $6,000 to help us launch the Early Career Recognition Award, a new award recognizing early-career investigators. Contributions from the Race will help fund travel stipends and recognition for awardees at IDWeek.
Matching Gift
Thanks to a group of generous SHEA member donors, all donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar – doubling the impact of every gift – until matching funds are exhausted (up to $9,000).
Prize Drawing Gift
Everyone who registers, donates, or fundraises for Race Against Resistance will be entered into a prize drawing.
Prizes include:
- 1 Grand Prize: One-year SHEA membership
- 2 Additional Prizes: SHEA-branded merchandise
Winners will be selected at the conclusion of the campaign on April 30.
How You Can Get Involved
1. Join the Race – Register with a $25 donation and choose any activity that works for you (more details below).
2. Donate – Make a donation in any amount to support the campaign.
3. Fundraise – Share your personal page and invite others to donate. Use hashtag #RaceAgainstResistance2026
4. New this year – Participants in the Fun Run at SHEA Spring conference can support Race Against Resistance with a $25 donation and receive a limited-edition SHEA Foundation water bottle.

- Mindfulness practices that promote focus and stress relief

Turn Your Activities into Impact
Track your progress throughout the month of April using the Charity Footprints app or from your computer. You may link a wearable device or manually log your entries to earn points and move along the race map. Please refer to the “How It Works” page for a full list of eligible options and to view the conversion charts to see how your entries translate into points and race progress.
